3 things I feel most grateful 💛
over 2 years ago – Fri, Oct 22, 2021 at 08:04:14 AM

Wow! What a journey. As we enter the last 24 hours of Kickstarter for Mommy Goes To Work I want to jot down the 3 things I feel most grateful about in the last few months leading to where we are today: 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️more than 500 backers. 📚50 books donated, and 💰more than $28,000 to bring Mommy Goes To work to life! We have almost TRIPLED our goal!

💛#1 The stories I’ve heard:

The feeling of knowing my book has touched people’s hearts and become part of their story is even more magical than I expected. We sent advance copies to friends and early testers, and what they wrote back encouraged me to keep going: “Love that this book is out in the world. I totally choked up the first time I read it to my kids!” “The kids' eyes LIT UP when we started reading, and my 5-year-old says: ‘Mama, how does Auntie Jossy KNOW about what we do!?’” I almost cried. My kids had this clear moment of ‘someone gets us.’ It was beautiful.” “I recently got promoted at work and am fretting telling my boss about being pregnant and taking maternity leave. This book is such an inspiration, as it reminds me how proud I am to be a (soon to be) working mother, and someday read this story to my son.” I saved all those messages, they reminded me why I am doing this.

💛#2 The friends I’ve heard from:

I didn’t expect to reconnect with friends from all stages of my life (including kindergarten classmates!). My heart melted while I saw familiar names on the backer list, those I talk to every week or those I didn’t see for a long time. And I’m so thrilled about the new friends with a shared mission that I have met through this project. I can’t wait to collaborate and make the world a better place for working mothers!

💛 #3 The family supporting me:

Guess where the Mommy Goes To Work rewards were being assembled? My grandma’s house in #Taipei by our family team! It’s literally from our family to yours! Opening a new school, raising a young family, and launching a new book all at the same time wasn’t easy. My husband Matt has always been my bedrock and steady beat of our sometimes a little too crazy rhythm. Our boys Jeremy and Timothy asked us everyday “how many people want to buy Mommy goes To Work now? 352? Wow, that is bigger than 3!” We are grateful that we got to create something purposeful as a family, go through the ups and downs together, and finally bring it to the world.

Thank you, every single one of the 510 backers and more working mom supporters who will join us in the future - you are our Co-Creators who made this possible! We can’t wait to develop the Mommy Goes To Work book series to support more moms and inspire more kids! 🤰🤱👩‍👧👩‍👦

Stickers & Bonus Goal to Spread The Love.
over 2 years ago – Mon, Oct 18, 2021 at 06:14:31 AM

Dear Backers,

Stretch goal of $24,032 was reached by exactly 400 backers!! This means we’re including  sticker sets with every Mommy Goes To Work book!

BONUS GOAL: donate 1 book for every 10 backers!

We have 5 days left on our campaign and 406 backers, meaning we are already donating 40 books. When we reach 500 backers we will donate 50 books - the more the merrier! In the survey we will send out next week you can nominate childcare centers, libraries, schools or non-profit organizations to receive our book donation. First come first served so make sure you submit the survey asap.

Finally, today, I’m hosting a virtual session on bringing your passion project to fruition at 12:30pm ET. I’ll be sharing many of the strategies I’ve learned in bringing Mommy Goes to Work into the world. I hope to see you there!

October 18th, Monday 12:30 pm ET

Join me for a behind the scenes look at making Mommy Goes To Work, we will discuss from idea to point of sale and everything in between. I will explain the book creation process through the lens of human-centered design and how you can apply it to your own project, too!

I love supporting mission-aligned creators. “The First but not the Last" is a board book that introduces little ones to 15 trailblazing South Asian women. These women broke barriers and claimed their seats at the table. I just backed this project and think you might be interested in taking a look, too! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pinsahota/the-first-but-not-the-last
